Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machinery designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is usually located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually used for jobs which need tasks to be done at heights that exceed other types of lifts. Like for example, employees are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are more suited to specific tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Under the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machinery gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these types of equipment should be directly positioned under the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift usually has a larger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machines, because they have to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, as they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized particularly for vertical work. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers can raise workers up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are various types of cranes which can perform various purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at various jobs and are suitable for specific applications and finishing certain tasks.
