How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the best alternative for carrying jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be positioned near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
