During the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began building threshing machines. The business later gained international recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. Case had established themselves in the construction machinery industry by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machinery including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading producer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machinery.
