Lift trucks are important pieces of equipment utilized commonly in business, specially in distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling facilities. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Forklifts normally have a range of attachments also. The following are several of the most important parts of a forklift.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the equipment, the lift truck has its power source. The different types of engine on the forklift would require varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have any of the following as its source of power: gasoline, diesel, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Truck Frame - the base of the forklift truck and the most vital of all the lift truck components is the truck frame. This forms the core of the machinery. All other components of a lift truck are attached to the base, including the overhead guard, counterweight, wheels, axles and mast. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the machine to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes connected to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck provides balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Forklifts will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are really numerous parts located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important parts like for instance the seats, pedals, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
