Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
